Mother's Dresser

I bought a WWII letter holder from Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. It's something soldiers would buy at the base for their loved ones back home so they had something to keep letters that they received. This one says Mother on it and it has a very precious poem inside that reads: "Other People's moms are nice, that's plenty plain to see. But no one else's mom's as nice as the one that belongs to me." I use it as a purse now but I am very careful with it.

I bought this partially because it reminded me of my grandmother who passed away last summer. I took some things I own and set them up like my grandma had in her house. Delicate doily, WWII era items from her youth, a delicate hankie, and a glass bowl with her rosaries in it to go, and a prayer card that she always carried around with her that she bought when she was in Lourdes France in the 70's. The day she died my mom gave it to me. The white and gold rosary in the bowl belongs to my mom and is a family heirloom. I think those are real pearls.
